The powerful word of OPRAH!

I must admit that I am by no means an avid Oprah Show watcher, and even at times become slightly annoyed with her many claims and "do this" shows that so many Americans seem to be mesmerized by.  She may not create my most favorite television show, but it is true that many people watch her religiously, and that she does have from time to time some helpful information.

In fact, a few weeks ago I was visiting my mom, who does watch Oprah everyday, when I noticed that the focus of Oprah's show was entirely on the importance of watching the movie, "Food Inc.," and reading the book In Defense of Food, by Michael Pollan.  She even had Michael Pollan on as a guest of her show, whom spent a great deal of time discussing the significance of eating whole foods, knowing where your food is coming from, and limiting your consumption of processed foods.  I was actually excited to see Oprah have an entire show focused on the importance of locally grown, nutritious foods and was also happy to hear that the following week she would have a show completely dedicated to the epidemic of Diabetes.  So I guess I shouldn't necessarily turn off the Oprah show every time it comes on?!

After checking out this Oprah show episode, I decided to take a look at her website.  Surprised again!  Besides a lot of information on relationships, style, and entertainment, her website includes a great deal of interesting information on healthy recipes, exercise routines, how to eliminate back pain, and how to boost your mood, to just name a few.  I would actually recommend checking it out! www.oprah.com/index.html

I have now learned that you can't judge a TV show by its out of control viewer popularity!
