Here are several great reasons to get out of the house and spread some warmth and holiday cheer!  I looked into Food and cooking events happening around town and here are some of the events I found.  Enjoy and Bon Appetite!

A Splendid Holiday
Eat, drink and be splendid this holiday season at the North Market. Join Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Small Business Beanstalk, 3 Babes and a Baker, Sugardaddy’s Sumptuous Sweeties, Pistacia Vera, Pattycake Bakery, Sassafrass Bakery, Mozart’s Bakery, Expressly Market Bakery and Bistro, Middle West Spirits, Rockmill Brewery, Brothers Drake Meadery, and Barley’s Brewing Company from 5-9pm Tuesday, December 14th for an evening of friendship and good cheer. Tickets cost $20 and include a variety of Columbus’ finest treats and a signature cocktail from Middle West Spirits. To enjoy more libations, an additional five dollar donation is suggested. And if you’ve ever wondered how to incorporate Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams into a Baked Alaska Pie, Jeni will be dishing out slices of the frozen treat while explaining how to pull one off at your own holiday parties. If it all sounds just a little too sweet, A Splendid Holiday also has something savory, too. A Columbus favorite, and a recent addition to the North Market, Clever Crow Pizza, will be serving morsels of their corn-crusted delights to hungry party-goers. To further celebrate the evening (and Local Matters throughout 2011), What the Rock?! will provide buttons for your winter coat or summer t-shirt. All proceeds from the festive affair will benefit Local Matters. You deserve and you’ve earned it!     January 11, 2011 Sur La Table Cooking Class: Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Basics – Session 1: The Basics Join chef Anthony Bourdain and  learn: basic techniques and skills that will make you successful in the kitchen, how to choose seasonal ingredients and to figure out what’s fresh, bringing out the best flavors and textures of your fresh ingredients, how to use a chef’s knife with skill and confidence, properly cooking the basic ingredients of many great meals, and practicing how to properly cook pantry staples like eggs and pasta. Menu: French Omelet – Mashed Potatoes (Pommes Puree) – Rice Pilaf – Fennel and Haricots Verts Salad – Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce. 6:30pm, cost is $69 per person. Learn how to make and bake simple and tasty wood fired flat breads in the 700 degree oven at the Live Fire Cooking Theater. Learn the basic dough recipe, add a variety of toppings of choice, bake and enjoy! A selection of local beers will be available for sampling.
