Jack Johnson Concert!!
Last night Local Matters was represented at the Jack Johnson concert in Cuyahoga Falls! We had our own table in the “Village Green” and we got to meet Jack Johnson and his wife! They played the “Name That Veggie” game at our table and talked to us about what we are doing in our community. While Jack Johnson was playing the game, he immediately recognized the fennel because his children love fennel. His children actually started a “Friends of Fennel” club. We also learned a fact from Kim Johnson about the Japanese eggplant we had as a part of our game. She said that the Japanese eggplant is the only type of eggplantthat grows in Hawaii.
Once the crowd was allowed inside, our table was a huge success. It was an amazing opportunity for Local Matters to raise awareness about the food system and about Local Matters.. People were very interested in what we are doing and how they could get more information or become involved. We even had a line to play our “Name that Veggie” game and to win a Local Matters temporary tattoo.
The concert itself was fantastic. The environment surrounding the concert was very exciting and full of people who want to better their community. Jack Johnson’s concert theme this year theme is supporting local sustainable food systems and plastic free initiatives. He is very involved in the community and donates to many organizations.
