Reforming Healthcare

So, no matter what side of this oh so controversial debate on whether or not we should have universal healthcare for those who can't afford it, there are some things that are about to change in our country. While some changes are immediate, some will take years to implement, this signing makes it so that health insurance companies will care more about YOUR health because they are not allowed to deny coverage.

For those of you that have read my post on Michael Pollan's new book, I spoke alittle about how there is a synergy between food companies and the health insurance industry:

" 'Cheap foods have a high cost paid by the public health system,'

Currently the healthcare system and the food industry work sympathetically in which the food industry helps to create hypertension, type 2 diabetes and other food related illnesses in which the insurance industry will then make more money on the poor health of the many Americans suffering from them."

Now, because the industry will no longer be able to cut out people with preexisting conditions, they will have to insure all and will be losing out on some profits because they will be paying to help those who are affected by illnesses that they are born with such as Type 1 diabetes or severe asthma.

Now the healthcare industry will hopefully now make an investment in YOUR wellbeing (and their pockets) to make sure that you are living the best life possible, eating well and exercising, and doing what is necessary to make YOU the best you possible.

While I am not totally happy with all parts of it, remember in life and politics, you win some, and you lose some and most times you will have to make a compromise to get at least some of what you want.
