Fresh just got closer. The Market at 15th & High, a new outdoor farmers’ market on the Wexner Center Plaza, brings fresh local seasonal goodness to the Ohio State campus.
Remember Field & Screen, our food-focused film series last February? It featured discussions about industrial agriculture and healthy alternatives. Now, Ohio farmers’ harvests are one step closer to your plate. The market will be especially convenient for university-area residents, as well as Ohio State students, staff, and faculty. You can look for heirloom or unusual varieties, as well as vegetables and fruits that are just fresh and juicy. Selections of produce and other products like baked goods and cheeses will change week by week, depending on what’s ripe for picking and ready for eating.
The market will be held rain or shine, and 100% of the profits will go directly to local farmers. Food stamps and W.I.C. will be accepted by some vendors, and produce will be donated to the food pantry at Neighborhood Services following each market. A few vendors will also be participating in CSAs—community-supported agriculture, in which farmers deliver shares of produce on a weekly basis to subscribers—with the market as a pickup spot for their subscribers.
