Internships

Local Matters is pleased to offer a variety of internships with each of our programs as well as in our offices. We strive to offer internship experiences that allow our interns to make meaningful contributions toward the Local Matters mission that also expand our organizational capacity.

Many of our programs operate according particular cycles – the growing season, or the academic calendar – and we have found that Local Matters interns have the best experience when they are able to experience those cycles from beginning to end. For this reason, we typically take on interns at the beginning of a cycle and ask that they commit to a specified service period with Local Matters prior to joining the team.

All available internship positions are posted here when they are available and we are taking applications.

If there are no positions currently posted, we encourage you to sign up as a volunteer with Local Matters. Our volunteers play an integral part in each of our core programs and their involvement is critical to the success of our work. Every two weeks, we send out an email to our volunteer pool with upcoming needs and requests. Once you’re signed up and have completed the Volunteer Orientation, all you do is reply to that email to get involved.

We make every effort to accommodate special requests for internships. If you have a project that you would like to complete as an intern with Local Matters, please submit a resume and cover letter outlining your proposed project. However, given the relatively small size of our team, we are limited in our capacity to host interns.
