Growing Matters

Growing Matters

Growing Matters helps build the supply of local food by helping neighbors and the community to grow more food, closer to home. Through collaborations with schools, neighbors, community gardens, and urban farms we provide resources, training and support to food production sites in our communities.

In the summer of 2011, Growing Matters launched several projects in and around Columbus:

Hoover Y Learning Garden

This one acre plot is our biggest Growing Matters venture with a full time farmer managing groups of volunteers that tend to the garden.

Backyard Gardens in Weinland Park

Following up on a neighborhood engagement process that Local Matters conducted in the summer of 2010, our Growing Matters program is assisting 46 back yard gardeners with materials, advice and support to help them produce and share more food in the neighborhood.

School Gardens

We provide support and resources to gardens at St. Vincent's Family Center, OSU Schoenbaum Center, and the Godman Guild.

Community Gardens

We provide support and resources to community gardens like the 4th St. Farm and the Cornerstone Church Community Garden.
