SimplyGood Bakery: How Eating Better Birthed A Business

With all of the challenges our food system presents today,
it’s easy to get discouraged and overwhelmed—
especially if you have children to think about.

Making the right food choices for yourself and your family can be a daunting task, but its importance is growing exponentially. And no one knows this better than local business owner of SimplyGood Granola, Teresa Jones. The single mother of two has successfully implemented healthy familial eating and even expanded it into a business with all the integrity the current food system is lacking.

Teresa’s penchant for healthy eating arose from her own digestive problems and low energy levels. After doing some research, the information she found sent her springing into action. In the interest of the long-term health of herself and her kids, Teresa began cutting out processed foods wherever she could. Whole grains, breads, unbleached flours and unrefined sugars became staples in her house. Junk foods got sent to the back of the shelves and are now strictly “sometimes” foods for her and her children.

“To begin eating healthier you should first know what your goals are, whether it’s for health issues, to lose weight, or a desire to take better care of the body God gave you!”

But how does one contend with unhealthy options oustide of the house? Unhealthy and processed foods turn up at every corner; from her children’s sporting events to school lunches and everywhere in between. In 2008, Teresa had a revelation. She began baking muffins and roasting granola, and the results were delightful. She began selling her goods to fellow churchgoers and even providing them to her children’s friends. Before she knew it, a business was born.

SimplyGood Granola is now in its second year and is expanding rapidly. In a short matter of time, Teresa will be cooking her delicious muffins, granola trail mixes, and granola bricks from a commercial kitchen where she has developed a partnership. Her products are made exclusively from scratch and entirely from all-natural and unmodified ingredients.

Teresa’s determination to make healthy, trustworthy foods is founded in integrity; she simply wants to make foods that she would trust to give to her children and eat herself. She states, “We choose to use ingredients that are better for our bodies in order to provide a fresh product that our customers can rely on as being made for maintaining a healthy body and mind.”

With
SimplyGood Granola, you can rest assured you’re getting a product that is real food and that is coming from someone who actually has your best interests at heart; a rarity in today’s marketplace of heavily marketed processed foods. Teresa’s knowledge of food is apparent in every aspect of her business and daily life, and she wants it to be part of yours as well.

“To begin eating healthier you should first know what your goals are, whether it’s for health issues, to lose weight, or a desire to take better care of the body God gave you!”
