Community Kitchen Programs
Welcome to our kitchen! Local Matters offers a variety of different programs in the Community Kitchen. Currently, there are two different kinds of cooking-specific programs in the Community Kitchen: cooking demonstrations and hands-on classes. Both are accessible, inclusive opportunities for food education. We ask that you pre-register for classes online; there are some free registration options available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have questions about the registration process, please feel free to reach out to us by calling the office at 614-263-5662 or emailing classes@local-matters.org. Thank you!
Cooking Demonstrations
Local Matters' Community Kitchen cooking demonstrations are a fun opportunity to learn more about a nutrition issue or special topic. The demonstrations are not hands-on, but are interactive! Questions and dialogue are encouraged. The cooking demonstrations include a tasting sample of the recipe(s) prepared in class.
Hands-On Classes
Local Matters' Community Kitchen hands-on classes are a perfect way to build your skills and confidence in the kitchen. Hands-on classes will focus on techniques, and involve participants in every step of the cooking process. Expect to chop, stir, and saute your way through the class, which ends in a full meal.
