The Community Conversations provides an opportunity to discuss what you and others can do to affect food-related change at home and in the larger community. Each conversation will center around a specific food focused topic and includes a full catered meal.
September Topic: Food Access - Community Members in Linden Respond
The faith-based community and others in Linden have rallied together to work on reducing food insecurity in their neighborhood, with support from the city and county. They have organized the Community Dinner, Bread of Life Food Pantry, a weekend food program with East Linden Elementary, and a community garden. Through the recently launched Linden Farmers Market (with support from the Farmers Market Collaborative), they have been able to increase access to healthy food in the neighborhood. They are also able to provide opportunities for economic development, cultural exchange, celebration, and overall community building. Please join us and our guest Landon Adams, Market Manager of the Linden Farmers Market and Assistant Pastor at New Salem Church, to discuss ways community members can support healthy food in their neighborhoods.
- Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay or skill level.
- Conversation is from 6:00pm - 7:30pm, doors open at 5:30pm
